De ochtenden worden frisser en de kachel gaat weer aan. Merinowol houdt je kleintje behaaglijk warm zonder dat het gaat zweten: de vezel isoleert, ademt en voert vocht af, zodat de lichaamstemperatuur stabiel blijft — binnen, buiten en in de kinderwagen. Zacht op het huidje, van het eerste laagje tot het mutsje.
Onze tweede zoon, Bo, kwam ons leven binnen met meer dan we hadden verwacht: eindeloze refluxbuien, kletsnatte shirts, en een jongetje dat maar niet wilde slapen. We probeerden alles. Niets hielp lang genoeg.
Tot iemand van de opvang ons aanraadde om wol te proberen. Eerlijke vezels die warmte vasthouden zonder vocht op te slaan — precies wat een onrustig baby-lijfje nodig heeft. Het werkte. Bo sliep. Wij sliepen. En de stof bleef verbazend droog op de natste momenten.
Maar het was 2020, midden in een lockdown waar online winkelen het enige was. Mooie wollen kleding vinden — in zachte kwaliteit, in kleuren waar we vrolijk van werden — bestond simpelweg niet. Niet voor Bo. Niet voor andere baby's. Toen zijn wij, samen aan de keukentafel, gaan ontwerpen wat we zelf niet konden kopen.
Lille Barn is daaruit ontstaan. Geen modemerk — een antwoord op een te lange nacht.
