Wash wool

Wool products must be washed carefully because there is a risk of shrinkage. Therefore, follow the washing instructions below to keep your woolen products in the best possible condition so that they can last for generations!

Our woolen clothing can be washed by hand or in the washing machine. Keep in mind that you need a fairly modern washing machine with a setting specifically for wool.

Wash wool in the washing machine

If you have a modern washing machine, washing wool in the washing machine is the safest choice. The washing machine allows the temperature change to occur slowly and the soap supply is also gradual. The washing machine does not wring out the wool, but turns the wool.

  1. Only wash woolen products with other woolen products.
  2. Make sure there is not too much wool in the washing machine. One to two kilograms is the maximum. Wool needs space in the washing machine to spin.
  3. Wash wool in the washing machine on a special wool program.
  4. Use a special natural wool detergent.
  5. Never use fabric softener, bleach or synthetic detergent.
  6. Centrifuge the wool at a low speed (600 revolutions)
  7. Do not put merino wool in the dryer, but let it air dry flat.
  8. You could iron merino wool at a low temperature, but this is not actually necessary. Merino wool is naturally virtually wrinkle-free.

Wash wool by hand

Washing by hand quickly causes kneading, which can damage the fibers. Therefore, always be careful when washing by hand.

  1. Do not wash warmer than 30 degrees as your wool may shrink. You can take a baby bath thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature.
  2. Make sure the temperature difference is gradual.
  3. Use a natural wool detergent, but not too much because it will be difficult to wash out.
  4. Do not wring or sand the wool as this will damage the fabric. It is best to squeeze the wool to keep the garment beautiful.
  5. Rinse the detergent with water of the same (cold/lukewarm) temperature.
  6. Do not put merino wool in the dryer, but let it air dry flat.
  7. You could iron merino wool at a low temperature, but this is not actually necessary. Merino wool is naturally virtually wrinkle-free.
