Washing wool blankets.

We recommend washing your wool blanket as little as possible. Washing is often unnecessary; simply wiping it down and airing it out is sufficient. If you absolutely must wash it, have it cleaned by a specialist or hand-wash it carefully. When hand-washing, use a wool detergent and ensure you use lukewarm water of approximately 30 degrees Celsius. Knead the fabric and avoid rubbing it together. Then lay the wool blanket flat to dry, for example, on a clothes rack.

A wool blanket can be a bit stiff and have a sheep smell when you buy it. This is comparable to, for example, new leather shoes that smell like leather but are still very stiff.
